The Science and Technology Department of the French Embassy in the UK is pleased to announce the next scientific public lecture, given in English.
The nanoscale workshop: what can we build?
by Dr C. Joachim , Nanosciences Group, CEMES, CNRS, Toulouse, France and Prof M. Welland , Nanoscale Science Group, University of Cambridge, UK.

What’s up in the nanoworld? Playing with molecules at about one thousandth of the diameter of a human hair may yield spectacular applications for tomorrow!
Take the art and science of manipulating matter at the atomic scale: by designing nanostructures, researchers could create new materials with exciting potential applications such as water repellent coating or new type of solar cells.
This seminar will be the opportunity to understand the usage of uni molecular machines at the nanoscale such as nano wheelbarrow or atom cleaner and to point out the difficulties of communicating with a molecule just a nanometer in size.
The two presentations will be followed by a drink reception.
