Several scientific conferences will take place in France in the frame of the French Presidency of the European Union .
The aim of the seminar is to give an overview of the French experience on dismantling of nuclear facilities. The information is based on appropriate presentation made by experts and illustrative visits of facilities under dismantling.

MS 2008 is the second meeting of the « Materials and Sensations » series, for researchers and engineers from a variety of disciplines interested in interactions between human and materials. It aims to stimulate research on appearance-based engineering of materials, and to promote discussion and collaboration between scientists from industry and academia. Visual and tactile properties will be given special attention, but the field of auditory properties shall also be considered.

The European Council and the Parliament have expressed their support to the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan), proposed by the European Commission. The SET Plan is the part concerning low carbon, innovating technologies that will allow Europe to reach the goals of the “Climate Energy Package” in 2020.
As President of the European Union, France wishes to strongly support the SET Plan and actively contribute to its implementation.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Research together with the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning (Regional Development), in collaboration with the European Commission, organises a high profile conference to launch the SET Plan: Towards a low carbon energy - The European Strategic Energy Technology Plan.
